My Zombie Makeup

For my Teaser Trailer, I had to wear makeup to create the Zombie character. 

Below are all the images I took of myself with the Zombie looking makeup applied.

My teaser trailer is aimed at men between the ages of 15 and 30. For the older spectrum of my age range, I asked my mum to put a link of my teaser trailer, as her friends are over 18/20. 

Below is the screenshot of the comments I received. 

I'm happy with the feedback as it's all positive, although it is quite minimal. The post had only been up a week when I had screenshotted the feedback, so over time I may receive more comments. I'm happy that the people who commented do not know me, as this will not create the Hawthorne effect, which is when someone changes their behaviour or comments to be nice to their friends. This means the comments I received will be more valid than those of people that are my friends.

I'm really happy with the comments of my work being "atmospheric", as I think that's a key element for a teaser trailer as conventionally they need to focus on the cinematography of the shots, so it doesn't give too much of the story, but that the film itself looks professional and attractive.

Teaser Trailer Log #3

For my editing today I added the sounds and background music. All these sounds were from uncopyrighted music sites, which are included in more detail in this post, so please click this for more information.

I downloaded which I moved into my files.

Above is a screenshot representing me adding the music into my teaser trailer using Final Cut Pro X. The second picture shows I adjusted the volume of the clip, making the music fade in, at the beginning of the video. The sounds are of an alarm and an eerie background music, by making these both fade in, I believe it will sound more professional and seamless.

Teaser Trailer Log #2

I added in text, which is influenced by the beginning of Pulp Fiction. I though this definition, of "epidemic" would represent the threat of a Zombie epidemic in the film, giving the audience a sense of fear, but wanting to watch on, as they are ''thrill seekers''. Stylistically, I wanted this title screen to look very similar to the one used at the beginning of Pulp Fiction, shown below, which looks just like a dictionary extract.

Teaser Trailer Editing Log #1

To present my editing process on Final Cut Pro for my Teaser Trailer I have decided to post alongside it a "Teaser Trailer Editing Log" to log all my editing progress onto my blog to show as evidence. All my Log posts will be tagged with "#Log" so my progress can be easily located and seen. 

What I did today...

First I imported my clips to Final Cut Pro, then moved the clips in the bottom bar to put them into the order they'll be shown in for the video.

Script writing

For my teaser trailer, there will only be two parts which include sound of spoken word. The first will be a voice over for a radio news interview, and the second will be spoken by Elliott my actor, who will play an Army Personnel.

Radio news interview

Reporter: We've had shocking information on an infectious outbreak, and so we'll be interviewing Dr ____ for more information.

Scientist: I can reassure you, there is nothing to be worried about here.

Reporter: But Dr, hasn't the nearest hospital obtained a patient zero?

Scientist: The patient is classified information, we need to do further examinations.

Reporter: Why can't you tell us the full length of this epidemic?

Scientist: An epidemic? There is no epidemic. Diseases are everywhere, take the common cold for example. This local contagion is harmless. There are no Zombies.

I created my first storyboard on post it notes that fitted the ratio for a tv, film screen, which looks landscape. 

This was a good method, as it fitted the ratio, and made it easy to edit them to re arrange, and draw on.

I made it into a Google Drive Presentation, shown below, with captions.

What is a teaser trailer?

As my main task for my brief is to create a teaser trailer, I knew I had to do some research. Below is a SlideShare I found online which helps me understand what a teaser trailer is.

What is the difference between a teaser trailer from Beccihammond

The main points outlined in the SlideShare are:

• Must be short, under 2 mins - just to tease the audience!
• Due to it's length, it must be brief and not give away the plot, again, this teases the audience.
• The important people in the film (such as director, producer, etc) must be mentioned as this will make the film more appealing, creating a larger audience.
• The teaser trailer is created and exhibited a lot earlier than a normal theatrical trailer, so phrases such as "COMING SOON", "THIS SPRING" or "COMING TO A CINEMA NEAR YOU" must be used.
